Counselor In Training (CIT) - Summer 2026

Each Summer DPR brings on six CIT's to assist our counselors with REACH Afternoon Camp. CITs make that step from camper to assisting with camp and will develop the leadership skills needed to become a Jr. Counselor with DPR in the future! CIT applications are due by March 31st. Parents should still register their child for afternoon R.E.A.C.H. camp if care is needed. If your child is selected to be a CIT, a registration refund will be given (minus the CIT weekly fee).

Please note: CIT spots are limited over the 5 week of REACH Afternoon Camp.  An interview will be set up for those who qualify.  Given the limited CIT spots, unfortunately not everyone who applies to be a CIT is selected for this position.  Priority will be given to those who have:

  • Attended REACH Afternoon summer camp with Durham Parks & Rec. last summer (summer 2025) (field trips not included).
  • Available to be a CIT for 4 out of the 5 weeks of REACH.
  • Have previously been a summer CIT for Durham Parks & Rec.
